The Minneapolis-St. Paul Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society, the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association's Diversity Committee, and the Hmong American Bar Association present

Our Mental Health: Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue and The Importance of Self-Care in the Legal Profession

Being a lawyer can be stressful. Whether you work in pro bono immigration, help clients who lost their home or job, or represent people facing prison, our profession can be emotionally draining. Coming home and listening to the news can be disheartening as well, with stories about Harvey Weinstein, violent white supremacy marches, and attacks on the Department of Justice filling the 24-hour news cycle. All of these factors can cause trauma.

Please join The Minneapolis-St. Paul Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society, the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association's Diversity Committee, and the Hmong American Bar Association for a program that will discuss types of trauma, the impact of others’ trauma, our risks, and what to be aware of. Participants will learn self-care techniques that will lessen the impact of our exposure and help us to develop resilience.

Featuring:

Joan Bibelhausen, Executive Director, Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers
