In an effort to provide attorneys with the information needed to assist businesses in complying with the new Earned Sick and Save Time (ESST) ordinances in St. Paul and Minneapolis, LegalCORPS invites you to join us for this CLE. You will hear from labor law experts who will provide an overview of the ordinances, hypotheticals in the application of the ordinances, and tips to solve them. In addition, representatives from both cities will discuss compliance and answer questions.
Time: 6-8 p.m. Date:April 11, 2018 Location: Schulze Grand Atrium, University of St. Thomas School of Law The Night of Distinction is an opportunity to discuss pertinent current issues that affect the communities we live in. The theme for this year is, "Crack v. Opioids: The Politics of Race and Addiction." The Honorable Judge Pamela Alexander of the Hennepin County Fourth Judicial District, will be our keynote. Judge Alexander has been a judge in Hennepin County since 1983. She has spent her career advocating for fairness for marginalized groups in the criminal justice system. During the "war on drugs" Judge Alexander continued to speak out against sentencing disparities of crack cocaine users vs power cocaine users. This year's theme will explore the "war on drugs" and the criminalized response to addicts of color, particularly Black people in comparison to the more recent Opioid crises which mainstream media and government has often depicted as an issue affecting the White community. Our keynote and panelists will explore said topic, in-depth. This will be an open and candid discussion on the influence.

This free program will focus on women, communities of color, LGBT lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities, to identify those opportunities.
